Languages, Cats and Confidence

In this episode, I share a glimpse into my life as a 12-year-old student who loves learning and has a special passion for languages and, of course, cats. I begin by expressing my joy for school and how my favorite subject, English, fascinates me due to my enthusiasm for discovering new words and communication constructs.

Moving on, I introduce my seven adorable cats living in Bosnia. Their playful yet calm nature captures my heart, and I enjoy recounting their charming antics, particularly their love for napping. Each cat has its personality, and sharing my experiences with them brings a light-hearted touch to the conversation, reminding listeners of the importance of companionship and the joy pets can bring to our lives.

Then, I dive deeper into the world of languages, revealing that I speak seven different tongues – German, English, Serbian, Bosnian, Croatian, Ukrainian, and Russian. I proudly discuss the significance of languages as they open the doors to communication with others and allow us to appreciate the unique sounds and structures each one possesses. To illustrate this, I share a simple introduction in each language, providing an auditory experience that highlights their diversity.

Next, I spotlight the reasons I find English particularly vital in today’s global landscape. The omnipresence of English in films, on the internet, and in daily conversations resonates with many. I recount my journey of learning English through my love for movies, emphasizing that despite the initial challenges, persistent listening helped me improve over time. This experience reinforces the idea that language learning is an evolving process, one that requires patience and engagement.

I also encourage listeners to share their experiences with English media, inviting reflections on favorite songs and films that have shaped their own language journeys. To conclude, I offer practical tips for anyone looking to embark on learning English: listen actively, immerse yourself in media, and embrace the gradual pace of acquisition without fear.
